Compelled to be a writer!

In April 2012, I read Mark Batterson’s book “Circle Maker.” On page 77, my train of thought derailed. Mark revealed how people contact him (because of his being a New York Times bestseller author) to coach them on writing. He said his question to those folks is never if they could write but if they are called to write. The admonition clicked for me. The Lord had been telling me for some time to write down what He was doing and to tell His people. Writing became an act of obedience for me whether anyone would ever read the book or not!

I prayed and asked God for a plan. He clearly showed me a map for accomplishing the task. I personally had my doubts but I threw out the fleece about several things I thought I needed in order to get the project accomplished. They were: a remote place in […]

Fingers of God

I have referred to as these light shafts as the “fingers of God” not knowing they actually have a name!

Crepuscular Rays to me communicates God’s love, care, and presence. They remind me that no matter how dark it gets the darkness will not overwhelm the light…

“In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it].” (John 1: 4-5 AMP)

Jesus is the Light and He lights the darkness for us and through us. In the midst of darkness and death He is the Light and Life.

May a beam of sun light shine on you today and remind you of the Son Light that lights the way! If it happens to be Crepuscular Rays snap a picture of it as […]

Peace – Presence

Have you ever known someone who exuded a mysterious supernatural calm in the face of great adversity or chaos? Perhaps you have been in a situation and an inexplicable almost “slow motion” feeling of an extraordinary deep peace felt palpable to you?
This is the essence of the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Person of Peace, Jesus Christ.  This is what he said “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:26, 27 NIV84)
The Holy Spirit is the Peace. The presence of the Spirit actually manifests what Christ said he left here […]

Flexibility vs. Fluidity

One of my favorite things to say during difficult circumstances over the years has been “Blessed are the flexible, for they don’t get bent out of shape.” I realized however, in my witty lyrical expression there was room for growth and improvement.

While flexibility seems to be a cherished commodity these days is it really God’s best for our lives? Flexibility means you stand firmly rooted and grounded and simply flex or bend to the situation or circumstances. It means the circumstances do not move you to be different. What if, going with God meant being moved, changed, or transformed? Can you go with God and stay where you are? Perhaps you believe that you have to keep grounded, immovable, or centered in your position. A balancing must occur between who we are in our core, our beliefs, our inner person, and our willingness to change our course and direction.

We […]
